CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE PET INDUSTRY THREATEN CORAL REEFS. TOGETHER WE CAN PROTECT THE ANIMALS AND PLACES WE LOVE
#FISHKISS4NEMO
WHAT WE ARE DOING
We are full of hope. People like you or me can make choices that will create positive change. From the Great Barrier Reef, to the Philippines and Indonesia, there is no place right now where we are not seeing the impacts of bleaching from climate change. Coral reefs are under threat and collection for the pet industry is adding more pressure on our struggling marine animals. About 95% of marine fish you see for sale in aquarium stores comes from the wild. We are concerned that the release of the sequel Finding Dory in June 2016, will result in a resurgence of popularity for marine ornamental species, with the Blue Tang as the target. We have the solution- stop the collection of wild caught fish by buying nursery-bred only.
So for the love of marine ornamental species like Nemo and Dory, take a selfie with purpose as part of our million kisses for nemo campaign and tag 3 friends.
Share your fish kisses with Ellen DeGeneres- the voice of Dory, to encourage her to join the campaign and become the ambassador of Saving Nemo to help promote conservation of popular marine aquarium animals.
